Use a sonic measuring device for easy and accurate measurements.
Point the device at a 90-degree angle (straight on) to the wall or ceiling in question when measuring. Do not angle the device. You will need to take readings to the ceiling, floor, and 4 walls.

and recorded by hand on a sheet of paper.
